Following LSU women's basketball's Sweet 16 loss to Duke in the NCAA Tournament Saturday, head coach Kim Mulkey addressed rumors about her future.

"I'm not retiring," Mulkey said. "Do I look that bad? I don't know where that came from."

Mulkey, a Louisiana native, wrapped up her fifth season at the helm in Baton Rouge with a 29-5 record. The No. 2 seeded Tigers overcame a 10-point deficit in the fourth quarter to take the lead heading into the final seconds of play. A buzzer beating three by the Blue Devils sent them into the Elite 8.

"I'm going to be in this game unless LSU fires me," Mulkey said. "Until I can't put a product on that floor that's competitive or my health fails me."

An online rumor about a curtain call for Mulkey picked up steam. Between the loss and two assistant coaches leaving for Rutgers prior to March Madness, the rumor gained legs. Mulkey put them all to rest in the moments following the Sweet 16.

"I'm not retiring," Mulkey said. "I plan to hire two coaches quickly. I plan to get in the portal and get two or three more players and take a little time off, go see my grandchildren."
