Florida State landed four commitments last week as their recruiting momentum picked back up after a strong month of June. They got some encouraging news over the weekend about another prospect that's caused quite a buzz.
The Seminoles got a crystal ball prediction for 2028 four-star edge Meshi Dobson out of Cypress Bay High School. Another aspect of Dobson's recruiting process is taking shape as well, and it will have a significant impact on the current recruiting cycle. He is working to get reclassified.
"I'm getting ready to make that move on reclassifying and going into the class of 2027," Dobson said via Zach Blostein of 247Sports. "I know I need a little bit more to work on, but I feel like I'm ready for the next level."
This is a huge development, especially if FSU could land Dobson. They were able to get their biggest prize of the summer in four-star safety Ta'Shawn Poole last Friday. Adding a reclassified Dobson, who could make his decision even sooner when that comes about, would give the Seminoles a ton of momentum in recruiting as they look to have a season that's successful enough for them to circle back on some other prospects.
Dobson played at Plantation High School last season before transferring to Cypress Bay. It was a very strong year for the 6-foot-3, 235-pounder as he logged 72 tackles, 31 tackles for loss, 14 sacks, one pass breakup, and one fumble recovery.
He's the No. 324 overall player and the No. 34 edge per 247Sports composite rankings. In the state of Florida, he's the No. 49 prospect.
This is one situation to keep an eye on when it comes to Florida State. The other top contenders for Dobson if he does commit early are the Miami Hurricanes and Syracuse Orange.
