New England Patriots quarterbacks coach Ashton Grant is remaining with the team to continue developing quarterback Drake Maye, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Friday.
Grant was originally slated to interview for the Las Vegas Raiders offensive coordinator job. However, he will now come back for another year under Josh McDaniels in the Patriots' offense.
This represents continuity for both the quarterback and organization. Maye had a successful second season, recording 4,391 passing yards, 31 touchdowns, and eight interceptions. The North Carolina product was able to lead the Patriots to the Super Bowl in one of the best turnarounds in NFL history, after going 4-13 in the 2024 season.
Grant's return is a big win for the Patriots and Maye, who should benefit greatly from the team keeping the offensive coaching staff intact.
Maye's continued growth will be heavily dependent on the people around him, and as demonstrated this season, the organization has the right individuals to help the young quarterback reach elite status.

Patriots QB coach Ashton Grant has decided to remain in New England rather than discuss the vacant offensive coordinator job with the Las Vegas Raiders. Grant now officially will be staying in New England to continue helping with the development of Drake Maye.
