The Kentucky Wildcats didn't have much going for them just a few short months ago.

They were able to get commitments from a few potential backcourt studs in Alex Wilkins and Zoom Diallo, but it is still up in the air how their play will transition to the SEC. However, Mark Pope came through, as later in the spring the team was able to get Malachi Moreno back, and he looks primed to be one of the best big men in the conference. Moreno was soaring up draft charts and could've been taken in the first round. However, he opted to join the Cats for a second season.

Then, Pope really started to find his groove when the Cats were able to add Iowa State sniper Milan Momcilovic. Momcilovic averaged 16.9 points per game last season and was arguably the best shooter in the country. Those four players should be huge for the Cats, as will several other talented transfers that Pope was able to add.

That said, this team is really starting to find its identity, and Pope's hope and a three-point-centric roster may be coming to fruition. West Virginia might soon find that out as the two sides are reportedly in negotiations for a fall ball right before Thanksgiving. Per Matt Jones of Kentucky Sports Radio, the Cats and the Mountaineers could take to the hardwood in Nashville prior to the holiday on Black Friday.

Sources tell KSR that Kentucky is in negotiations to play West Virginia in basketball on Black Friday in Nashville

There was a possibility of the game being against Illinois but that fell through and now it’s potentially West Virginia. Deal still not finalized

It still appears there are some negotiations to be had to finalize things, but it seems more likely than not that the two parties will be able to figure it out. West Virginia didn't have a great season a year ago, but it has been a talented Big 12 side at times throughout the past decade.
