Former Baylor guard Tounde Yessoufou made it clear Wednesday at the NBA Draft Combine in Chicago that his current focus remains on turning professional rather than returning to college basketball.
Speaking with CBS Sports national college basketball writer Isaac Trotter, Yessoufou addressed the possibility of returning to the college level after entering both the NBA Draft and transfer portal earlier this offseason.
“To be honest, I’ve never thought about that one because I’m not planning on returning [to college],” Yessoufou said. “Again, my main focus is just the draft.”
The talented 6-foot-5 guard officially entered the transfer portal just before the April deadline after initially announcing that he would just test the NBA Draft waters.
During his freshman season at Baylor, Yessoufou emerged as one of the top young guards in the country, averaging 17.8 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game while starting all 34 contests. He also shot 46.5% from the field and became known for his athletic scoring ability and transition offense.
Coming out of high school, Kentucky was among Yessoufou’s finalists before he ultimately committed to Baylor. While Kentucky remains in the market for another impact forward or wing, current buzz has pointed toward UCLA as a potential landing spot if he withdraws from the NBA Draft because of him being from out west.
Kentucky also continues to monitor closely with NBA Draft prospects in the transfer portal, including Milan Momcilovic and Elijah Graves.
