New Kentucky quarterback Kenny Minchey is already developing chemistry with sophomore wide receiver DJ Miller, and he is not shy about the impact the 6-foot-3 target can bring to the Wildcats’ offense.
Minchey, who transferred from Notre Dame, praised Miller’s blend of size, athleticism, and confidence as Kentucky continues building its offensive identity heading into the season.
“DJ Miller,” Minchey tells On3’s Wilson Alexander about standout playmakers. “He’s the best receiver in the country. He’s very athletic. His tenacity and his size.”
Miller showed flashes of that potential during his freshman campaign, appearing in seven games with three starts against Auburn, Florida, and Vanderbilt. He finished the season with 13 receptions for 175 yards and two touchdowns, quickly proving he can be a reliable target in key moments.
His breakout came against Tennessee, where he delivered a career-defining performance with five catches for 120 yards and two touchdowns. That included a 56-yard score and a 28-yard touchdown, making him one of the youngest players in school history to post a 100-yard receiving game.
Miller also tied a school freshman record with two touchdown receptions in a single game, joining a list that includes some of Kentucky’s top receiving talent in recent years.
Coming out of high school, Miller was a four-star recruit and one of Missouri’s top-ranked players, finishing with over 1,700 receiving yards and 18 touchdowns in his prep career.
With Minchey now at quarterback, Kentucky’s offense appears to be building around a growing connection between a confident passer and a rising sophomore receiver poised for a bigger role in 2026.
