Year three of coach Mark Pope's tenure with the Kentucky Wildcats is a big one. After a disappointing season on the court, getting good players to Lexington is a must, and he has started strong in the 2027 class. Kentucky already has a commitment from four-star recruit Ryan Hampton, and is in the mix for several other top players, including Demarcus Henry.
Henry is a 6'7", 190 lb small forward out of Arizona. He is currently rated five stars by 247Sports and ranks as their No. 5 overall player in the class. He's also the brother of Ohio State wide receiver Chris Henry Jr. and the son of former Cincinnati Bengals receiver Chris Henry.
On Monday, Henry told Rivals that his school list has been trimmed to eight, and the Wildcats are still in the picture. North Carolina, Louisville, Ohio State, Arkansas, Connecticut, Kansas, and the BYU Cougars are the other schools.
Pope has struggled to close on top recruits in his two seasons in Lexington, but landed Hampton, possibly signaling that he's over the hump. If he can land Henry or one of the other five-star players in this class, it will likely lead to more success on the court, and more support from fans. We'll update Henry's recruitment as more develops.
