Day two of the transfer portal is sure to see new names of interest to Mark Pope and the Kentucky Wildcats. From the names already on the list, it's clear that they are very interested in getting some talent inside, and a player they have targeted is former Syracuse power forward Donnie Freeman. Kentucky Sports Radio reports that the Wildcats contacted him as soon as he hit the portal.

Freeman was a five-star and top 15 recruit in the 2024 class. He chose Syracuse early on, committing in May of 2023, though he did have offers from a number of other programs, including several from the SEC.

As a freshman, Freeman made an immediate impact, averaging 13.4 points and 7.9 rebounds per game. Last year, he posted averages of 16.5 points and 7.2 rebounds per game. However, injuries have been an issue with him missing time in both years he was at Syracuse.

Still, Freeman is immensely talented, and could be even better if he does stay healthy. He's considered one of the best available players in the portal, and would be a terrific signing if Pope can get him to Lexington.
