When the Kentucky Wildcats landed forward Milan Momcilovic from the transfer portal, most fans thought that Mark Pope was done with the 2026-27 roster. The assumption was that the 15th roster spot would go to a walk-on as he moved on to recruiting for next year. That may not be the case.
Jack Pilgrim of Kentucky Sports Radio reports that Kentucky is one of the teams heavily recruiting international star Nikola Kusturica. The 6'9" wing is apparently considering the Wildcats along with Gonzaga, North Carolina, Louisville, and others.
Kusturica, who is Serbian, is currently playing for FC Barcelona in the Liga ACB in Spain and the Euroleague. In international play, he has averaged 11 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, and a steal per game. He was also instrumental in Barcelona's win of the Adidas NextGen Finals championship, recording 20 points and 10 rebounds.
Returning to Barcelona is also an option, but he is working to be eligible to play college basketball this season. A decision will likely come soon, and we will update things once that happens.
