LOS ANGELES – The men’s 100-meter showdown at the Los Angeles Grand Prix didn’t disappoint on Sunday.

Kenny Bednarek ran away from the field to win the men’s 100 with a time of 9.72. Fellow U.S. sprinter Christian Coleman ran a 9.84 to finish second. Ghana’s Abdul-Rasheed Saminu crossed the line at 9.88 to place third.

All times are wind aided (2.4).

The Botswanan sprinter entered Sunday with a season-best of 9.95 in the 100.

Bednarek entered Sunday’s race with the second-fastest 200 time in the world this year (19.69). Bednarek is a two-time Olympic silver medalist in the 200 and a two-time silver medalist in the event at the world championships.

The U.S. sprinter entered Sunday with a season-best of 9.98 in the 100.

Sunday’s Los Angeles Grand Prix was held at Allyson Felix Field at Katherine B. Loker Track Stadium which is within walking distance of the LA Memorial Coliseum, the host venue for the track and field competition at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
