Kendrick Perkins Piles On Jaylen Brown Hate, Leaks Texts From Former Cetlics' Players originally appeared on NESN. Add NESN as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
Things are getting very ugly for Jaylen Brown following the Boston Celtics inexplicable first-round collapse against the Philadelphia 76ers.
Brown wasted no time getting back into the public eye after blowing a 3-1 lead. He was live on Twitch streaming to tens of thousands of fans the night of the loss.
This decision sparked controversy, with several talking heads in the media calling it a bad look for the 29-year-old superstar.
Things have not died down since the inciting incident nearly two weeks ago. In fact, they seemed to have come to a head on Monday afternoon when Brown took to Twitch to double down on his proposed "deal" for ESPN's Stephen A. Smith: he will stop streaming if Smith quits his job.
He adamantly denounced Smith's credibility, with a blunt "(expletive) Stephen A. Smith."
Smith's coworker and former Celtics NBA champion, Kendrick Perkins, came to his defense. Perkins told viewers of "First Take" that multiple former Celtics have individually texted him to denounce Brown's Twitch antics.
"I get another text that said, ‘Hey, JB trippin.' Another text from a former Celtics player that said, ‘JB, lack of accountability,'" Perkins said live on air. "JB guess what? It’s a lot of people in the organization, a lot of former players, legends, that don’t agree with you bro! They don't like the way that this looks."
Perkins then went on to say that his actions just fuel the fire of speculation that Brown and Jayson Tatum's relationship is not as good as they say it is. At one point, Perkins even took a jab at Brown, saying that in the time he has spent on Twitch, Tatum has been doing commercials with his son and "getting money" and "being the brand."
"This instance, I can’t rock with you JB," Perkins continued. "Guess what? There’s a lot of former Celtic players that’s not rocking with you either."
