Kelsey Mitchell could not quite carry the Indiana Fever to a road win over the Minnesota Lynx on Sunday, but she still walked away with another place in WNBA history.
Mitchell erupted for 37 points in Indiana’s 108-100 loss at Minnesota, extending her streak of consecutive 20-point performances to 14 games. That moved the Fever guard past WNBA legend Diana Taurasi for sole possession of second place on the league’s all-time list.
Taurasi scored at least 20 points in 13 consecutive games across the 2006 and 2007 seasons. Mitchell tied that mark with 26 points against the Portland Fire before breaking it with her highest-scoring performance of the season against Minnesota.
The WNBA’s official game recap noted that Mitchell recorded her fifth 30-point game of the season while pushing her historic streak to 14 games. WNBA.com
Mitchell shines against WNBA’s top team
Mitchell needed a special performance to keep Indiana within striking distance of the league-leading Lynx. She made 15 of her 25 attempts from the field, knocked down three 3-pointers and converted all four of her free throws. Mitchell also added four assists and two rebounds while committing just one turnover in nearly 35 minutes.
Minnesota ultimately closed the game by scoring eight of the final 10 points, but the Fever continued to lean on Mitchell whenever they needed an answer.
Her scoring run has now lasted for more than a month. Mitchell has reached 20 points in every appearance since June 27, establishing herself as one of the WNBA’s most consistent offensive threats during that stretch.
The eight-year veteran has also scored at least 30 points five times this season, including three times during her current streak.

A’ja Wilson’s record is now within reach
Mitchell still has work to do before taking over the top spot. Las Vegas Aces star A’ja Wilson owns the WNBA record with 20 consecutive games of at least 20 points. That run stretched across the 2023 and 2024 seasons.
Wilson also opened the 2024 campaign with 15 straight 20-point games, the longest such streak within a single season. Mitchell can match that mark in Indiana’s next game and break it if she reaches 20 points in each of her next two appearances. Passing Taurasi is already a significant achievement. The former Phoenix Mercury star retired as the WNBA’s all-time leading scorer with 10,646 points after averaging 18.8 points across 20 seasons.
Mitchell is building her own scoring legacy in Indiana. She entered the league as the No. 2 overall pick in the 2018 WNBA Draft and has spent her entire career with the Fever.
Now only Wilson remains ahead of her on one of the league’s most impressive scoring lists.
