in my years of business dealings with closely held / family businesses -- a very common dynamic:

trusted/familiar but marginally competent is preferred to a highly competent outsider

the owner of that closely held business doesnt see it that way and can rationalize it away ("I'm concerned they don't share our values...." stuff like that) but it is really true

The question of why Keim is still here in that position is only surpassed in curiosity by the question of why would anyone remain a fan of the Cardinals. Psychologists would have a field day researching that question. Were we all constantly beaten down and humiliated as children?
