New York Giants linebacker Kayvon Thibodeaux will enter a critical point in his career this season.
Thibodeaux will need to be at his best in Year 5, as the linebacker has had an up-and-down start over the first four seasons of his NFL career. New York originally selected Thibodeaux with the fifth overall pick in the 2022 NFL draft, and despite flashes of elite potential, he has struggled to make a consistent impact on the Giants’ defense.
The Giants will enter the 2026 campaign with one of the most talented defensive units in the NFL. New York in particular boasts significant depth at the outside linebacker position, which could quickly create an uphill battle for Thibodeaux in 2026 should he struggle early on.
The talented linebacker recently addressed the Giants’ depth at the position, acknowledging just how stacked the group truly is.
“It’s scary,” he said. “I love it, man. We’re almost cursed with too much talent. We have a matchup problem no matter what team we face. I think just being able to work together and play off each other, continuing to build that chemistry, will be key for us.”
Thibodeaux recorded 25 total tackles and 2.5 sacks across 10 appearances on the Giants’ defense last season.
The veteran will undoubtedly enter the most important year of his career in 2026, and Thibodeaux appears fully confident in both his own abilities and those of the group as a whole heading into training camp.
