New York Giants outside linebacker Kayvon Thibodeaux found himself at the center of trade rumors throughout the entire offseason.
Thibodeaux was not traded, to the surprise of many, and the veteran will play a critical role on the Giants’ defense once again this season. New York currently has one of the deepest outside linebacker rooms in the NFL, so Thibodeaux will need to be at his best in 2026.
On Tuesday, Thibodeaux joined the media session while head coach John Harbaugh was at the podium following Day 2 of minicamp. The linebacker jokingly asked Harbaugh for his thoughts on the defensive front.
"How do I feel about the defensive front? The Thibodeaux guy has got me a little concerned back there. He looks shorter to me. Oh, there he is right there," Harbaugh said with a laugh. "Just so you know, this is par for the course for this guy right here. He is the number one question asker in all the meetings. Did you guys know that? Top question asker.
"He's going to be (in) your crowd here someday."
Thibodeaux responded to Harbaugh’s comments in hilarious fashion.
"I'll be too rich for that, coach," he said.
Thibodeaux recorded 25 total tackles, 2.5 sacks and five tackles for loss in 10 appearances on the Giants’ defense last season. Originally selected by New York with the fifth overall pick in the 2022 NFL draft, Thibodeaux has struggled to consistently play at a high level over the first four seasons of his NFL career.
Thibodeaux could find himself playing much better football this season in Harbaugh’s first year with the Giants. The former first-round pick possesses elite athleticism and size, but 2026 will serve as a critical juncture in his NFL career nonetheless.
