Kate Upton was right by Justin Verlander's side for one of the most meaningful moments of his legendary baseball career. The Sports Illustrated Swimsuit icon joined her husband Tuesday night at the 2026 MLB All-Star Game in Philadelphia, where Verlander celebrated his 10th career All-Star selection and what will be the final Midsummer Classic appearance of his career.

Although Verlander did not pitch in the game, the three-time Cy Young Award winner was honored with Commissioner Rob Manfred's "Legend Pick" after announcing earlier this season that he plans to retire at the end of the 2026 campaign. Before the festivities began, Verlander and Upton walked the All-Star red carpet together with their children, creating one of the evening's most talked-about moments.

Upton wore an elegant outfit that quickly generated attention across social media as she accompanied Verlander during the pregame celebration. Fans reacted to the couple's appearance, with many praising Upton's look while recognizing the significance of the occasion for Verlander, who is preparing to close the book on one of the greatest pitching careers in Major League Baseball history.

The red carpet appearance carried extra meaning after Verlander recently confirmed that 2026 will be his final season. In announcing his retirement plans, Verlander reflected on the people who helped him reach the finish line, including a heartfelt message for Upton.

"I want to thank the Commissioner for the incredible honor of being selected to the All-Star Game," Verlander said in his retirement announcement. "The opportunity to attend once again is something I'll cherish, and it will be an incredibly special moment for me and my family."

He also thanked his wife directly.

"To my family, especially my wife Kate, thank you for standing beside me through every season, every rehab, and every high and low. I couldn't have done this without you. It's time for the next chapter."

A relationship built through baseball

Upton and Verlander first met while filming a commercial for Major League Baseball 2K12, with their relationship eventually becoming one of sports' most recognizable partnerships. The couple announced their engagement in 2016 and married the following year. They are now parents to daughter Genevieve and son Bellamy.

Over the years, Verlander has frequently credited Upton for helping him through some of the most difficult periods of his career, including the injuries that threatened his future on the mound.

In a 2018 interview, Verlander revealed that Upton became his biggest source of support during his rehabilitation process, saying she gave him someone he could trust while working through both the physical and mental challenges of returning to baseball. That support was once again on display Tuesday night as the family celebrated another milestone together.

While the All-Star Game featured many of baseball's brightest current stars, one of the evening's most memorable moments came before first pitch, when Verlander and Upton walked the red carpet together, marking another chapter in a career—and a partnership—that has spanned more than a decade.
