According to a report from the Kansas City Star, the Kansas City Chiefs have applied to the federal government for trademarks on several phrases and names that could be used in its relocation efforts to Kansas.
The following names are the trademarks the team reportedly submitted to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office: Kingdom Commons, Tailgate Town, '63 Entertainment, Arrowhead Sports Complex, Arrowhead Sports and Entertainment Complex, Two-Point Development.
"We are extremely pleased with the progress we've made to reach this point and are excited about what's ahead," said the team spokesperson in a statement. "As part of our normal business operations, we regularly evaluate and take steps to protect our intellectual property. In this case, we have taken proactive measures to register a number of potential trademarks that may or may not end up being used in conjunction with the stadium, practice facility, or the mixed-use developments surrounding those projects."
Each listed name references special moments in the franchise's history. The football theme is present throughout the process as the days tick down to the eventual move.
The Chiefs announced in December plans to relocate to the Sunflower State in 2031 after agreeing to a deal with the State of Kansas to build a new stadium in Wyandotte County.
