LAWRENCE — Kansas basketball has committed to be a part of the Players Era event through the 2030-31 season, according to a recent KU release.
After playing in the event last season, the Jayhawks will also be a part of it this season. It takes place in Las Vegas, and this agreement to continue Kansas’ participation ensures that one of the premier brands in college basketball remains a part of it. It’s also a chance for KU athletes to engage in NIL opportunities and more.

“We’re grateful to have Kansas, one of the preeminent collegiate basketball programs, return for the next several years,” Players Era CEO Seth Berger said in the release. “It’s an extraordinary testament to what we’re building here with Players Era –a competition that delivers an exceptional experience for both fans and student-athletes alike in an atmosphere that feels like March in November. I appreciate the University of Kansas Athletic Director Travis Goff, Head Coach Bill Self, and Deputy Athletics Director Sean Lester for their partnership and commitment.”
Self added: “The Players Era commitment to college basketball has been very impressive. They have brought in high-level teams, which creates great matchups during the pre-conference season. The Players Era has also produced great NIL opportunities for our players. Being locked in through the 2030-31 season is a reinforcement of the direction the Players Era is moving. Not only is it great for our players, but it allows our fans to plan vacations to come cheer on the Jayhawks.”
Last season, Kansas won all three of its games in the Players Era event as it finished in third place. The Jayhawks defeated Notre Dame, Syracuse and Tennessee. This season, KU will start off the event with a Nov. 17 game against UNLV, with its opponents for the next two games to be determined.
A major draw for Kansas being a part of the event this season is freshman guard Tyran Stokes. Stokes arrived at KU as the No. 1 prospect in the class of 2026 — according to 247Sports. He’s not the only newcomer with promise on the Jayhawks’ roster, but the fact that a potential No. 1 overall pick in next year’s NBA draft is involved will certainly draw interest.
