To say 2025 was a good season for Los Angeles Rams safety Kam Curl would be an understatement.

Joining the Rams in 2024 after a four-year run with the Washington Commanders, Curl went wild in 17 games of action for Los Angeles in 2025, recording the most tackles of any defensive back in organization history at 122.

Discussing the forthcoming season with CBS Los Angeles at training camp on Monday, Curl noted that he has even bigger plans for 2026 than his 2025 high-water marks.

“I mean, yeah, you know, getting, being a seventh-round pick, making it to Year 7 and, you know, playing for a team like this, I feel like it exceeded some expectations I had,” Curl said. “But, you know, it’s just, I got to keep going. I got to set more expectations, you know, set bigger expectations because of the type of team I’m on. Because these guys here, they elevate everybody’s game. So being around great guys on this team, it just makes me want to be better.”

Asked about embracing a leadership role heading into Year 7, Curl noted that, as the oldest player in the DB room, that role falls on his shoulders. Fortunately, he’s embraced it all the same, especially since the players around him make his job easier.

“Yeah, you know, it kind of falls in my lap because I’ve got the most experience in the DB room, you know, so just, you know, taking that into consideration and embracing that role,” Curl noted. “And, you know, I have young guys, I have smart young guys who listen real good and can put it on the field, you know what I’m saying? So they make it easy on me.”

Headlining a defensive backfield that also features Quentin Lake, Jaylen Watson, and $100 million trade acquisition Trent McDuffie, Curl will be one of the featured players on one of the best teams in football. If he can take his play up even further, it will only raise the ceiling for a team with Super Bowl aspirations even further.
