Josie Rystedt leads Bemidji State, earns first collegiate win at Norse Invite

Apr. 3—DECORAH, Iowa. — Bemidji State women's track and field freshman thrower Josie Rystedt earned her first collegiate win Friday afternoon, headlining the Beavers' trip to the Luther College Norse Invite.

Rystedt was the Beavers' lone entry in shot put Friday afternoon, but the freshman held her own for the team, marking a 9.77-meter throw and taking home the top podium spot. This meet was Rystedt's first outdoor meet of her collegiate career.

BSU's field unit was the lone group of Beavers in action on Friday as weather delays prevented track athletes from competing.

Zayda Priebe's day was highlighted by her third-place finish in discus, grabbing her an NCAA Division II Top 100 spot, coming in at 93rd at a distance of 41.38 meters. Freshman Allison LaVine also marked an impressive showing, finishing one spot behind at a distance of 40.54 meters. Hannah Baker and Elle Bettcher rounded out the discus lineup, marking throws of 38.08 meters and 34.04 meters, respectively.

On the javelin range, Trista Bilden earned second with a throw of 36.90 meters, grabbing the Beavers' eight points in the team standings leaderboard. Elle Bettcher followed close behind in fourth with a throw of 30.96 meters. Junior Makenna Frazier finished third in the women's long jump at 4.81 meters and Hailey Selly followed in fifth at 4.67 meters.

Chloe Knott and Kathryn Freymiller rounded out the lineup on the pole vault side, both marking heights of 2.90 meters, Knott earning sixth and Freymiller taking eighth.
