Catching the ball deep at the top of the key, Josh Dix swished an outside jumper. It was part of a flurry of third-quarter buckets by him. Finally, the sharpshooter produced results for the first time this Summer League. Considering the circumstances, that's what you wanted to see from one of your two-way players.
The Oklahoma City Thunder wrapped up their Salt Lake City stay with a 103-69 Summer League loss to the Utah Jazz. With both sides sitting out their top names, this allowed the two-way players to get some shine.
Dix finished with 16 points on 6-of-10 shooting, four rebounds and two assists. He shot 4-of-7 from 3 and 0-of-1 on free throws. He also had one block.
It was a little surprising to see the Thunder add Dix to a two-way spot just minutes after the 2026 NBA draft ended. But obviously, they loved his jumper. That's how he made a name for himself at Iowa and Creighton. But through two Summer League starts, he was just kinda out there. Some of that is on him. Some of that is on the infrastructure, as OKC had zero real playmakers to kick the ball out to him.
Given more opportunities, though, Dix showed out in their last game at Utah. He scored 10 points in the second half. A handful of outside jumpers showed off his range. All on kick-out passes as the Thunder fed him the ball for offense. He also knocked down a baseline jumper.
"We had some guys out tonight. So I was just trying to be more aggressive and find my spots. My teammates, AP, Steven and Bryce," Dix said. "They all found me in good spots where I didn't really have to do much except shoot."
If you're going to be a sharpshooter, you gotta put up shots. Simple as that. Dix didn't really do that in his first two games but went all out here. Good to see that. Because Payton Sandfort started to breathe down his neck. Especially since he essentially usurped him for a two-way spot. Need to keep this up in Las Vegas.
"It's been pretty crazy and fast-paced, for sure. But I've got a lot of good guys around me. The Thunder have a lot of great people in the organization," Dix said. "It's a lot of people I can learn from and lean on. So they've made it easy."
