Fans of the Boston Celtics and the NBA tend to love trades almost as much as the product on the court they help make possible. But there is also a human side to any move the Celtics' front office elects to make, such as the trades that sent out a pair of players backup Boston wing Jordan Walsh has grown close to, Xavier Tillman Sr. and Anfernee Simons.
The Dallas, Texas native opened up about that loss to the roster he and his teammates are sorting through in the wake of 2026 NBA trade deadline ahead of the first tilt with Simons new ball club, the Chicago Bulls, on Wednesday (Feb. 11) night. "It's tough," explained Walsh. "(...) Me and (Tillman) were like this."
"And so that first game back, I'm always looking for somebody to talk to, for inspiration points or whatever it may be," he added.
"And he just wasn't there," continued the Boston forward. And I was like, 'Dang,' it just feels different -- everything feels different."
"Obviously, (Simons), Josh (Minott), (Chris Boucher) -- guys I got close to while they were here. Fortunately, I'll be able to see Ant. I'll have to, we'll have to destroy him though. But, it'll be good to see him again, have him back in the Garden. But missing those guys, having them gone, definitely leaves a void kind of in the arena for sure."
