Jon Rahm is an exceptional talent, but it’s fair to say he probably should have won more major championships than he has by now.
Rahm left the PGA Tour to join LIV Golf at the end of 2023 and that move was a huge shock at the time.
The 31-year-old Spaniard was one of the most exciting players on the PGA Tour at the time, and he finished the year having won his second major.
Rahm triumphed at The Masters in 2023 after winning the U.S. Open at Torrey Pines in 2021.

However, he hasn’t genuinely contended in a major championship since he has been a member of LIV Golf, and that’s a real shame.
Many are backing Rahm to win The Masters next week, and while there is every chance he will do exactly that, he does have one glaring weakness under pressure according to Brandel Chamblee.
Jon Rahm has one issue when playing under pressure in majors
Chamblee has just been speaking on the Indo Sport Golf Podcast about the upcoming Masters Tournament.
He was asked to run through his favorites to win at Augusta National and unsurprisingly, Rahm’s name was mentioned.
However, Chamblee also highlighted a big problem that Rahm has when playing under the most intense pressure.
“Jon has pretty much everything,“ Chamblee said.
“Now, his iron play is not his strength, and it hasn’t been his strength at Augusta, save one year.
“In the years that you could find strokes gained data at Augusta National, and it’s only been a handful, so not a huge subset, but, you know, he’s 20th or 30th on average in strokes gained approach, in that field, 20th or 30th.

“So that’s a lot of people who hit their irons better than you.
“So, again, everybody’s got their caveats. Everybody’s got their question marks.
“Jon Rahm has got a short, quick golf swing. You know, that proves problematic in stressful major championship situations.“
Brandel Chamblee saddened by Jon Rahm’s LIV decision
It was back in 2023 when Rahm decided to swap the PGA Tour for LIV Golf.
And Chamblee has suggested that it is incredibly sad that the Spaniard made the decision to join the Saudi-backed outfit.
“He’s won a couple majors,“ Chamblee said.
“He’s a monstrosity of a talent. It’s really, really sad that he went to LIV.
“Because I’d like to see how good he was going to be and how good he could be.
“Save one player, going to LIV, has been hugely detrimental to the games of those who went there when they try to jump back and play at the elite level.“
Rahm joining LIV Golf was unquestionably a damaging move for his career.
He has clearly found it more difficult to contend at majors over the past two-and-a-half years, let alone win them.
If he doesn’t win one of the biggest four tournaments this year, perhaps he will be eyeing up a move back to the PGA Tour, after Brooks Koepka paved the way back in January.
