Joel Embiid reaffirms his belief in his teammates in shocking Game 7 win over the Celtics originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Philadelphia 76ers can be happy with how they came back from 3-1 down against the Boston Celtics to get a long-awaited victory. It was one of the most impressive results because Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey truly carried them to the victory.
They both scored over 30 points and dominated in the fourth quarter. However, they would be the first two people to talk about how their teammates helped them reach the second round.
Joel Embiid shows his appreciation for his teammates after Game 7 win
For the longest time, the Celtics had the 76ers' number in the Playoffs. They had a monumental streak against their rivals, as the last 76ers series win was back in 1982. Now, that streak is finally over because Embiid and his teammates have finally exorcised their demons.
It is a fantastic performance from not only Embiid and Maxey, but also from the rest of the team. They would not have reached the second round if not for players like VJ Edgecome, Paul George, Andre Drummond, and more.

Embiid himself is appreciative of what happened with the 76ers. He was not present until Game 4 of the series after he had an emergency appendectomy. He wanted to be there for his teammates because he knew they were there for him.
"That's a tough task. I've always believed in these guys, especially this team. Obviously, all year long, we weren't at our best. I feel like we're not even close," Embiid said about his teammates stepping up.
"I'm getting back to myself, this guy (Tyrese Maxey), All-NBA, PG. Everybody in this locker room is locked in and focused on the same goal."
The 76ers are finally back in the second round, and it will be against the New York Knicks. It will be yet another tough task, but it will be a good one for everyone watching at home.
With Embiid and Karl-Anthony Towns having a face-off between two elite centers, that is only scratching the surface of what can happen between these two teams.
