Joe is one of my favorite players in the NBA, I am sorry it got ugly here but I still can't help loving his game.

He had a choice of accepting a hell of a lot less money to be a 4th wheel on a contender. I don't know of many players that would want that role.

That is up for debate, we will never know because at first he got the 50 million offer, then next year sarver claimed he offered 60 million. The hawks then offered 70 million and then again sarver claims the suns were going to match.

From some of Joe's comments about how a 50 million offer before the 04-05 season was a slap in the face I will believe in sarver and consider Joe a money chaser.

JJ drops another 34/8/5 on 60% shooting leading his team to another win.

the eastern conference LEADING hawks are 4-1. yaoza!

i remember how he played in the weeks after the marbury trade and actually making the comparison to Tmac. 3 years later, as far as on court production, he seems to be proving me right. what an amazing talent...

He isn't wasting his talent. In fact, if the Hawks management wasn't so inept they might have made the playoffs last season with Chris Paul. I mean if they redid the last 2 drafts their team could have been....

Chirs Paul
Joe Johnson
Josh Smith
Marvin Williams
Zaza Pachulia

with Childress, Claxton, Wright off the bench. Not to mention they could have had either Foye or Roy - or traded that pick to a team like the Magic for their pick and a player.

That team is stacked with talent, and if they get a real GM in there to build the team right they could be pretty scary in a couple of years.

Andy, I agree with what you are saying but they wouldn't have had Paul and Marvin Williams. They took Marvin instead of Paul.

JJ is da man. His game is complete, he can do everything on the floor, he is clutch as all hell and perhaps most impressive he has as much upside as anyone in the league short of LBJ, Kobe, D. Wade, Melo and D. Howard. Who on the Suns can you honestly say any of those things about?? I never drank the anti JJ Kool-Aid. Wish we still had him...

Maybe you should have a sip because JJ sure did not want to remain a Sun. Remember he wanted out of Phoenix and was paid 20 million upfront money and given a 70 million contract by Atlanta. He also reportedly asked Phoenix not to match Atlanta's offer.

I wanted the Suns to extend JJ for whatever (50 million) when he was eligible, but it didn't happen. Now he is just someone I used to know.

There is no denying he is a talented player. However, as he wanted out of Phoenix, I'm just glad the Suns got value for him (Diaw + 2 first rounders). I'm not debating who got the winning hand... I'm just glad Phoenix did not let him walk for nothing.

Anyway, to me, it's kind of like breaking up with a girlfriend or wife. There is always some mixed feelings with a relationship gone sour. JJ wanted out of Phoenix... so be it.

If the Suns keep their draft picks, they may end up with three draft picks in the first round in what is touted as the deepest draft in a decade. If the Suns choose wisely, I think some very good players are going to be there throughout the first round. A pick in the 20's may still produce a very good player.

There is no way the Suns keep all 3 first round picks.

To me there is a difference between dominant and have a high points per game average. There are plenty of guys that put up big numbers throughout the course of a game but don't really take a game over when they need to. I put Joe in that category. I don't consider him dominant but I do consider him good. Let's not put the guy up on a pedistol until he proves hes the go to guy in a game. I watched plenty of hawk games where Joe isn't the guy taking the big shot towards the end of a game.

JJ is good but lets not get crazy he is no where near a LBJ, Wade, Kobe talent sorry thats just insane he is the leading scorer on the hawks where there options are very limited! He gets to shoot alot and these games mean nothing anyway. He is a solid player but not a superstar NOT!

Being on the Hawks where the options are limited are what makes his play this year even more amazing. Because teams are able to focus more on JJ rather than the other guys.

Why do the games mean nothing? They've won 4 of 6 games which includes a win over LBJ's Cavs squad.

the combined record of the Hawks opponents so far this year is below .500. Only one set of back to back games and they lost the second. With the knicks, magic, raptors, sonics, cavs, and 76ers, it has been a cupcake schedule so far. Those are all mediocre or horrible defensive teams, by the way. We'll see about JJ come January.

8 pts less in scoring, but pretty much identical.

I'm about 13 inches shorter than Shaq and only 1/5 as strong, but otherwise our physiques are pretty much identical.

If the SUns use 2 of those I'll be blown away.

Hawks getting a few wins now means they won't get a top 3 pick. Suns only get their pick if its 4 or less. I bet it's in the 7-10 range.

might drop a bit but he will prob score 23-25ppg this season at least. Loss to the Bucks today was good news, Hawks have been looking pretty good, which is not good for the Suns.

It doesn't matter if the hawks find their stride, if they start to be successful it will work against them just as it has worked against the suns style.

For playing against the hawks, once teams start taking notice, double team JJ so he doesn't get 25-30 and the hawks are sunk.

Not me, with Boris's and Leandro's new contract kicking in, the Suns will need low priced players that can come in and fill roles. I bet that we will keep 2 of the 3 picks, unless we use them to move much higher up in the draft.

Did you look at his stats from last season and this season thus far?

His scoring will level out and will drop from the 28.8 he's averaging now.
FG%: this year is 49, last 45, not the same by any stretch
3pt fg%: this year is 41, last 35, not the same by any stretch
asst: this year 4.1, last 6.5, not the same by any stretch

JJ is playing well, but has not faced any good defensive teams yet, we shall see. He is shooting more at a higher %, and dishing less, probably because Tyron Lue is at the point and JJ at the '2' where he belongs. I like JJ, but not at 75 mil, he's not that good. I'd rather have Boris, Leo and the #1 picks. Remember if we still had JJ, Leo would have been traded for nothing, or stuck on the bench with little trade value since he would never have had the PT to develop.

Bump

Are you still paranoid that the Hawks will make the playoffs?

Every year a couple of bad teams start out fast and a couple of good teams start slow. Freaking out before Christmas is always a bad idea.

paranoid - have you seen how atrocious the East is? There are only THREE teams in the entire conference that are over .500 at this point. The Hawks could easily get in - and probably be 10 games under when they do - the East is that bad.

The pick wasn't going to be top-five anyway. Now maybe it's 12-15 instead of 7-10. That's probably not a big difference.
