Just for reference, it's tough getting good picures of them for these interviews.

They all, quite reasonably want to get into the shade. For those of you who have not been to the facility, there is a "tree" near where the players come off the field and just about all media stuff is done under it after practice.

The problem with this tree is the shade screws up the face shots. I plan to experiement with some new exposuresettings next week and see if I can improve this. It's tough when shouoting is a relativly dark area with intense light all around.

This time I tried taking the shot from different angles, next time I will have to break out the manual and look into the advanced metering

You can take pictures anyways, and then lighten them up in Photoshop...I used to do that all the time.

You don't say, unfortunatly the rest of the picture would give you a headache in this case.

What I post was a reasonable balance between seeing him and a neon background.

The real solution is spot metering when I take the picture

Simple solution: use a flash! It will illuminate the faces yet the background will not be effected. Good Luck!

And thanks for the effort that you and BrightEyes are making!

You can use the natural light that bounces off my dome if you want.

Have there been many reporters at this weeks' practices?

Any national guys, or just local?

Portland Oregon these days.
I was only there Monday

And it had less folks than I'd expect. Maybe 5 or so. I recognized one or two; but to be honest, unless it was Mort or Thiesman I doubt I'd recognize a 'national guy' from a local.

I'll be there today, and try to take a better look.

Jim O - True story - I wasted valuable time driving well within the speed limits one evening because I thought I was being tailed by a squad car. Turned out the "dome light" was the top of a bald guy's head as he drove a convertable with the top down.
