During a recent interview with Sports Illustrated, CBS lead play-by-play broadcaster Jim Nantz expressed his disappointment that the Kansas City Chiefs vs. Buffalo Bills annual rivalry game was scheduled for Thanksgiving night on a different network.
“That’s the rivalry of its time,” Nantz said. “But, you know, you’re not going to get it every year. So, I’m OK with it. I have faith we’re going to get a very good schedule. I kind of had a sinking feeling that one of these years, somebody else was going to get the chance to have that great matchup. It’s OK.”
The CBS lead broadcast team of Nantz, Tony Romo, and Tracy Wolfson had become the yearly soundtrack of the Chiefs vs. Bills rivalry over the past six seasons. From regular season matchups to playoff thrillers, the games had become a staple of the CBS NFL broadcast year.
The NFL Thanksgiving Games will feature a tripleheader on Thursday, November 26. The first game will be the Chicago Bears traveling to Detroit to face the Lions at 12 p.m. CT on CBS. At 3:30 p.m. CT on FOX, the Philadelphia Eagles will visit the Dallas Cowboys, followed by Kansas City and Buffalo on NBC at 7:20 p.m. CT to close out the Thanksgiving Day festivities.
