If Aaron Rodgers fired the first shot, New York Jets head coach Aaron Glenn made sure any and all conversations ended right then and there.
A week before the 2025 draft, the former Jets signal-caller spoke on the Pat McAfee show and looked to trash his former team and new head coach in Glenn. The reason?
No one really knows.
“That was kind of strange,” Rodgers said. “I think we are going to have this long conversation. I’ve flown across the country, and 20 seconds in he goes and he leans to the edge of his seat and says, ‘So, you want to play football?’ And I’m like, ‘Yeah, I’m interested.’ And he was like, ‘We’re going in a different direction at quarterback.’
“I was kind of shocked. Not shocked because I didn’t think it was a possibility, but shocked because I just flew across the country and you could’ve told me this over the phone.”
New York has remained silent for the most part over the last couple of weeks since. After selecting Armand Membou with the seventh overall pick, Glenn made it clear any and all conversations of Rodgers would be addressed in the best possible way.
"Absolutely," Glenn said when asked about Rodgers' comments. "Membou's a really good player and I am so excited that he's a Jet."
The answer will emphatically end any and all conversations of the future with Rodgers and the Jets. The future Hall-of-Famer didn't work out in New York.
And Glenn won't be worrying to much about what the signal-caller does moving forward.
