Boston Bruins goaltender Jeremy Swayman has expressed regret for how the U.S. men's hockey team reacted to Donald Trump's joking about inviting the U.S. women's hockey team to the White House.
Both teams won the gold at the 2026 Winter Olympics, but Trump's wisecrack about having to invite the women's team drew some laughter from the men's team along with deserved cheers.
Team USA players like Jack and Quinn Hughes have expressed their support for the women's team after the viral controversy. Swayman took it a step further to comment directly to the team's reaction to Trump's comments.
"We should've reacted differently," Swayman said about the moment, per The Skate Pod's Scott McLaughlin. "We know that we are so excited for the women’s team. We have so much respect for the women’s team. To share that gold medal with them is something we’re forever grateful for. Now that we're home, we get to share that together forever and see the incredible support that we have from the USA and share in this incredible gold medal."
We'll see if any other members of Team USA share in Swayman's humble reaction.
