Jenkins
It might be a good thing for the Atlanta Falcons that free agent wide receiver MarTay Jenkins wanted so desperately to play with Michael Vick that he signed a minimum deal. A good thing because, had the Falcons invested heavily in Jenkins, they might well have regretted it. The four-year veteran, and former Arizona Cardinals player, still has hyper-speed. The problem is, he simply isn't a very polished receiver, and drops a lot of balls. There is a chance, especially if the Falcons' young receivers play well in camp and in the preseason, that Jenkins won't even make the roster.

Len Pasque.....'s TIP SHEET for July 11th.

He drops a lot of balls? He's not polished?

That can't be right. All those drops were poorly thrown passes, and for being polished, he always ran the correct routes, right?

Well that was definitely a part of it, but Mar Tay was never even a good receiver, though if he caught the ball he had big play potential.

I wanted to keep Jenkins but for no more than 1 Million a year. Jenkins is no more than an average receiver. But you have to consider he will help on special teams also. He was crazy for not taking the Cardinals offer. Some of the players need to shoot their agents.

YES

YES YES!!!!!!

That is right! RIP IN TO THE MAN!

Because all posts above have truth behind them. Because every player that has EVER played on the Cardinals becomes a stuper - star after they leave. It is always someone elses fault never theres. Eventhough the players are the ones out on that field LOSING!

The logic is so stupid it drives all Cardinals fans insane. So good I hope MARTAY is doing terrible.

And I CAN'T WAIT for Plummer's debute in Denver!

Let's get honest. The Cardinals have been bad because the players were bad. The reason we let all those players go this year? BECAUSE WE STUNK! We care about players that help form a terrible football team. Wave goodbye and welcome the new meat!

I would think martay will make the roster as the 5th or 6th receiver and play gunner on punts and perhaps the 2nd option on kick returns...assuming this to be the case - he will be lucky to catch 15 -20 passes next season - barring injuries to a few guys in front of him.. ..then...what will he be worth in the FA market next season..the league minimum..again...probably the only team that was willing to pay him above the minimum was us (Cardinals)..and we have a bunch of new guys and will have no interest...

But we are going to suck because we let great recievers go in Martay, Sanders, and Boston...

Boston is the only one that hurts... I wish we would of atleast Franchised him so it would give our young recievers a year to learn. But he was a head case anyways...

In terms of talent and potential -- Boston did hurt

But only if the Chargers get the Boston from the first 14 games of 2001 -- not the 2002 version.

I think the decision not to franchise was 60% Bidwill not wanting to spend money on a player with drug questions, 40% Rod Graves football concerns.

The football part was the fear that they spend $5mm, and get the lackadaisical, blow off team meetings, drop passes David Boston. Remember, if a veteran is on the roster on opening day, his contract is guaranteed for the year.

I agree 100%

There is a difference between "gifted" and "talented".

Talented players have all the ability in the world.

Gifted players dont only have the talent but they are hungry to be the best.

That is the difference between guys with "potential" and hall of famers...

Boston is definately very "Talented"...

More from CBSportsline.com on Jenkins from July 15th:

<<It's worth noting, however, that one of those 11 receivers -- MarTay Jenkins -- has come up short in early workouts. In fact, ESPN.com insider Len Pasquarelli advised readers last Friday that even though the former Cardinal might be one of the fastest players on Atlanta's roster, he drops almost as many passes as he catches. ...
Pasquarelli went on to suggest there's a chance, especially if the
team's younger receivers play well in camp and in the preseason,
that Jenkins won't even make the roster.>>
