Fanduel Sports Network analyst Jeff Brantley questioned Cincinnati Reds relief pitcher Graham Ashcraft's judgment on a throw to first in the bottom of the 7th inning Tuesday night against the Marlins in Miami.

Ashcraft was charged with a throwing error on Xavier Edwards' single that drove in Otto Lopez and gave the Marlins a 4-3 lead. Edwards advanced to second base.

"There are times that you get the ball on the mound and you're staring at the back of the baserunner and you just have to eat it," Brantley said. "You're not in a position with a speedy runner where you can set and throw. So you have to catch the ball, continue your momentum toward the dugout on the first-base side, and then you're kind of throwing a three-quarter throw on the run to the first baseman. Because if you try to throw it over the top of the runner, that's what happens."

Earlier in the broadcast, Brantley said the Reds' strikeouts against the Marlins' starting pitchers in the first two games of the series were "most alarming." Max Meyer struck out 14 in the series opener, and Edward Cabrera struck out seven in five innings Tuesday.
