Great win by the Suns. Slow start but a great 2nd qtr.

I was excited to see Lampe come in for some meaningful minutes.
He missed his first shot but then Nash set him up and he got to the line. After that Nash hit him for two open jumpers. NICE

JJ was on tonight. Not an unusual game for JJ except his shooting % was higher than normal.

Great win, bring on the Sonics!

That's why I like Nash so much. He will create opportunities for any other players if they know how to take that opportunity.

I heard an interesting comparsion and argument:

Stockton VS Nash:

Well, it's an inevitable comparison because both are sort of short, not particularly atheltic and are very good passers, PG with high basketball IQ, and both have high % shooting as PG. And ,most importantly, both are "white" players.

But who is better?

My personal comment is this:

Stockton is great in half-court games and his offense usually involves 1-2 players: Karl and Jeff. Stockton is really calm and he is bound to be successful under Slogan's system because Slogan's system does not need any particularly athletic players.

Nash is great in full-court games and his offense usually involves all 4 players. You can see this really well in Suns right now. One day Amare scores team high, and then Marion, and then Q and then J. If Suns' offense only involves Amare/Marion, Q and J will not shine. But that's not the case with Nash. He WILL pass to you if you have the confidence to take the shots. However, Nash does have a few negative things: tends to run out of gas if the game is too tight and his half-court game can fade away if the teams just stand around. Nash is also not very good at stealing, unlike Stockton.

So, overall, I believe both are great guards and both are quite different.

Nash is more similar to Mark Price's game. I remember him being more of a full court threat than Stockton.

I haven't checked the other free agents this summer, but I'm not sure he is going to get a $60 million contract offer from anyone. First of all, I doubt the new CBA will allow him to make that much. I don't think there's any way that free agents will be able to sign for more than 5 years (if re-signed). I also think we will see smaller raises from year to year.

On top of that if teams do their homework on JJ they will realize that he really needs to be the second or third best player to thrive. He also plays swingman which is probably the deepest position in the NBA.

When all is said and done he will probably get the new collective-bargaining agreement's equivalent to Jason Richardson's deal.

Suns Thrash Visiting Jazz

Joe Johnson scored a season-high 30 points and Phoenix outscored Utah by 18 in the second quarter of Wednesday's 108-86 win. Amaré Stoudemire chipped in with 19 points, while Shawn Marion and Steve Nash both notched double-doubles for the Suns (19-3), who now travel to Seattle to challenge the equally hot Sonics (18-4) on Friday (7 p.m., UPN 45).
