The Boston Celtics are the defending NBA champions for the 2024-25 regular season, and on a nightly basis, the other 29 ball clubs in the league have been letting them know what it feels like to be the hunted instead of the hunter for the first time since the 2008-09 season (the last time Boston was the defending champs).
It is a sea change in terms of how other teams play against you, getting each club's best shot for at least one game a season -- and in the majority of cases, most if not all. While the so-called championship hangover that tends to depress win totals from the title campaign to the next due to diminished motivations can be a factor, so too can this extra sauce brought by opponents.
Star Celtics forward Jayson Tatum opened up about these dynamics for Boston this season after the Celtics beat the Charlotte Hornets earlier this week in their penultimate game of the regular season. Check it out below to hear his thoughts.
