Jaylinn Hawkins Explains Decision To Leave Patriots For Ravens originally appeared on NESN. Add NESN as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The New England Patriots saw safety Jaylinn Hawkins leave in free agency and sign with an AFC rival.
Hawkins played two years in New England, and in 2025, he was a starting safety and a difference-maker on defense. Yet, after the Patriots lost in the Super Bowl, he entered free agency, and opted to sign with the Baltimore Ravens, and he admitted he was surprised to leave the Patriots.
However, after talking to Jesse Minter and the Ravens, Hawkins felt like the culture was a great fit for him.
“I mean honestly man just the way this culture is… this team, the history and what we have right now. I believe in the guys that we have on our team and I believe we could do something special,” Hawkins said on ‘The Lounge.’
Hawkins, meanwhile, also pointed to the Ravens' defense as a reason why he wanted to go there.
“I looked at obviously his resume, what he did in LA… good defensive minded coach and it all kind of fit well. I was just like, ‘I want to come here.’ This will fit my vibe and what I’m trying to achieve in my career, that’s to win.”
Hawkins inked a two-year, $10 million deal with the Ravens this offseason.
