PHILADELPHIA -- The Philadelphia 76ers will face a ton of expectations in the 2026-27 season. For a team that has not won a championship since 1983 nor been past Round 2 since 2001, the franchise is going all in as shown by the aggressive roster moves made by the front office.

Already having Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, and VJ Edgecombe, the front office landed Jaylen Brown and LeBron James to form an elite starting lineup. The front office also brought in players like Dean Wade, Anfernee Simons, and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope to form a strong bench unit as Philadelphia has the depth to join the starting unit to succeed in this league.

With that said, the pressure in Philadelphia has never been higher. When a team adds the type of talent the Sixers have in this offseason, the expectation is to win a championship. The time is now and Brown understands that from his time in Boston.

"I think at different points in my career, how I handled pressure was probably a little different," Brown started. "At this point now, I probably ignore a lot of it or just let it be water under the bridge. My relationship with the media hasn’t always been the best. That’s part of the reason I started streaming and stuff like that."

The Celtics are a team with a rich history as they have 18 championship banners hanging from the rafters at the TD Garden. They expect to win every single season. Brown dealt with those expectations there and will look to help the Sixers handle them in the coming season.

"I played in Boston the last 10 years and the pressure is high there. It’s title town," he said succinctly. "They expect to win every single year and they’re always looking for someone to blame. Some of those years it was me and I’ve been through that. All I come with is my work ethic, my mentality, my impact on winning. That’s just my approach. Nothing else matters. How do we win games?"

Chemistry and togetherness will be key terms in the coming season. The Sixers have some of the best collection of talent in the league, but that doesn't guarantee a championship. One can point to teams with great talent in the past like the 2004 Los Angeles Lakers. James' teams with the Heat won two titles in their four trips to the finals. Talent doesn't guarantee a title. The front office did their part. It comes down to the players now.

"I think they did a great job," Brown laughed in terms of the roster moves. "Obviously, on paper we’re excellent. We have a lot of talent compared to other teams in the league, but I’ve been around a long time. Long enough to know that what you have on paper doesn’t really mean (anything). It can if you put the work in, but if you allow distractions, if you allow the media to get into your locker room, if you allow certain things and the personalities don’t work, it could be a detriment. So I’m aware that it could go either way."

The Sixers will have a lot to iron out and a lot to get done in order to make sure everybody's on the same page. Brown will look to lead the charge in that area.

"It just takes an amount of work, and the transparency and leadership can really guide this thing or not," he finished. "For me, I’m just focused on that. How can I lead with my heart, lead with my work, my mentality? Obviously, on paper we all look great, but let’s all slow down. It takes real work every single day in order to make something like this happen. For me, the work has started already. I’m looking forward to it. I’m not a stranger to work. My relationship to work is great. I’m looking forward to doing whatever I need to do."
