Jaylen Brown Says Celtics 'In A Great Spot' Despite Possible Historic Collapse Vs. 76ers originally appeared on NESN. Add NESN as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
Only 13 teams have ever come back from being down 3-1 in a best-of-seven NBA playoff series.
After winning Game 6 at home Thursday night, the Philadelphia 76ers will look to become the 14th member of the group, while the Boston Celtics will try to avoid an epic collapse.
Celtics star Jaylen Brown said following Thursday's loss that he still feels that Boston is in a good position.
"Jaylen Brown says that he's looking forward to Game 7 on the Celtics' home floor: 'All things considered, we're in a great spot...Last two games wasn't our best, but you move on...I'm excited for Game 7," Celtics reporter Bobby Krivitsky posted on Bluesky. "Jaylen Brown when asked why he views this as great opportunity for the Celtics entering Game 7 after leading the Sixers 3-1: 'It's the playoffs...We expected to be better in spots, & we haven't. So, we can't get our head down. We've got to come out & have our best performance...on our home floor.'"
Boston opened the series with a dominating Game 1 win at TD Garden, before dropping Game 2 at home.
The Celtics seemingly took control of the matchup with back-to-back road victories in Games 3 and 4, before being upset in Boston in Game 5, as Joel Embiid finished with a game-high 33 points in his second contest since returning from injury.
The second-seeded Celtics have been favored over the seventh-seeded Sixers since the start of the series, but now with two consecutive double-digit losses, it'll be interesting to see which team Vegas likes ahead of Game 7.
Boston not only has won all 32 playoff series in franchise history when going ahead 3-1, but Philadelphia has never come back from that deficit in 18 tries.
If the 76ers complete a stunning comeback, it'd be their first playoff series win vs. the Celtics since 1982.
