The Boston Celtics are coming off one of their most disappointing playoff exits in years. Not only did they lose in the first round for the first time since 2021, but they also became the first Celtics team ever to blow a 3-1 series lead in the postseason.

Boston overachieved during the regular season, winning 56 games and earning the two seed in the Eastern Conference despite missing Jayson Tatum for most of the year. Jaylen Brown was a major reason why, stepping up in Tatum's absence with an MVP-caliber season and the best year of his career.

Unfortunately, Brown and his teammates squandered much of that goodwill during the playoffs, ending the season on a terribly sour note.

Despite the Celtics' disappointing finish and historic collapse, Brown dropped a shocking assessment of the campaign on his Twitch livestream on Sunday.

"It was my favorite year of my basketball career"

"This group is a special group. I'm so proud of this group and the way we played," Brown said. "I'm so proud, and it was my favorite year of my basketball career."

That's a surprising and concerning take from Brown, who angered many Boston fans with his comments. Shouldn't his favorite year be 2024, when he won Eastern Conference Finals MVP, NBA Finals MVP and the only championship of his career so far?

Brown had his most individual success this year, finally getting a chance to lead the Celtics in Tatum's absence and be the team's undisputed No. 1 option for most of the year. He and his teammates dramatically outperformed expectations during the regular season, only to fall woefully short during the playoffs with an epic choke against the Philadelphia 76ers.

As great as Brown's season was on a personal level, it should not be his favorite.
