It seems Jaylen Brown was right about his characterization of an incident during All-Star Week that saw a private pop-up event held in Beverley Hills get shut down by local police, not that we ought to be surprised. Brown's event, held at the home of the founder of Oakley, for which the Georgia native is a spokesperson, was terminated by the local police. The police claimed a permit was denied for the event, and that the Celtics star held the event anyway.
At the time, Brown had denied a permit had been applied for in the first place. He also denied the need for having one given it was an invite-only event held on private property. The City of Beverley Hills has since gone on record to correct the misunderstanding on their part, acknowledging the fact that no permit had been applied for, with a local official apologizing for the shutdown. "Upon further internal review, the city has determined that its prior public communication contained inaccurate information," shared the City on social media. "Specifically, no permit application was submitted nor denied for the event and the residence does not have any prior related violations on record."
"The City takes full accountability for the internal error that resulted in the inaccurate statement being distributed and is working to ensure it does not happen again," adds the post.
"The City’s previous statement about the weekend event at the Trousdale home was inaccurate, and on behalf of the City, I would like to apologize to Jaylen Brown and the Jannard family," offered City Manager Nancy Hunt-Coffey in the statement.
The statement also shared that the City of Beverley Hills is exploring "opportunities for collaboration with the Jannard family and Jaylen Brown on future community-focused events."
