Indiana Pacers center Jay Huff came in third at 96 on the NBA 2K27 shot blocker ratings 2K released Aug. 6. Chet Holmgren carries the same number.
Only two players graded higher. Victor Wembanyama has the category's lone 99, and Alex Sarr follows at 97. Below Huff are Donovan Clingan at 95, then Zach Edey, Evan Mobley, and Rudy Gobert at 94, then Walker Kessler and Yves Missi at 93.
Huff played all 82 games last season and made 47 starts, one of just 18 players in the league to appear in every game. He averaged 9.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 1.5 assists in 21 minutes per game, along with 1.9 blocks. He shot 47.6% from the field, 31.9% from three, and 82.8% from the free-throw line.
Wembanyama led the league with 197 blocks. Huff was next at 153, and he needed 18 more games than Wembanyama to get there. Per 36 minutes, Huff blocked 3.2 shots, and only Wembanyama did it more often.
Indiana acquired Huff from the Memphis Grizzlies on July 5, 2025, sending out a second-round pick and a second-round pick swap. Four days earlier, Myles Turner had signed a four-year, $108.9 million contract with Milwaukee.
In 2024-25 with Memphis, Huff played 64 games and averaged 6.9 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 0.9 blocks in 11.7 minutes per game while shooting 41% from three. He closed that regular season by going 9-of-12 from the field for 22 points in a 132-97 win over Dallas, with 6 rebounds and 6 blocks.
Huff went undrafted out of Virginia in 2021. Over the next three seasons, he passed through the Los Angeles Lakers, Washington, and Denver before signing with Memphis in July 2024. In 2023, he won G League Defensive Player of the Year and led that league in blocks. Indiana is his fifth NBA team.
His games played increased over time: four, then seven, then 20, then 64, and finally all 82 last season.
In October 2024, Memphis signed Huff to a four-year contract worth up to $10.11 million. The first two seasons were fully guaranteed, but the guarantees for the remaining seasons depended on him reaching a playing-time threshold, which he achieved by playing 64 games in 2024-25. He is guaranteed $2.66 million in 2026-27. The last year at Indiana is a team option valued at $3 million, with the team able to decide by June 30, 2027.
The Pacers went 19-63 without Tyrese Haliburton, who missed the season after tearing his right Achilles tendon seven minutes into Game 7 of the 2025 NBA Finals. Pacers coach Rick Carlisle used 27 players. Andrew Nembhard started 57 games and averaged 16.9 points. Pascal Siakam averaged 24.0 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 3.8 assists and made his fourth All-Star team.
Indiana acquired Ivica Zubac at the February deadline in a trade that sent Bennedict Mathurin to the Los Angeles Clippers. Zubac played five games before a season-ending injury. The Pacers also gave up the pick that became fifth overall in that deal.
This summer, Indiana signed Kelly Oubre Jr. and Larry Nance Jr. and brought back Kobe Brown on a two-way contract. Huff is in line to compete for the backup center role behind Zubac.
Early access begins Aug. 28 and the full release follows Sept. 4. Indiana opens camp in late September.
