Jarren Duran has not only gotten hot at the plate, but his defensive play has also improved as of late.

Duran made a highlight-reel catch on Tuesday, and a day later, he followed it up with another stellar play in the field. In the bottom of the third inning, Duran leaped in front of the netting in foul territory to make a highlight-reel catch.

After the game, Duran said he’s willing to put his body on the line to get an out.

“I'm willing to get hurt to make a play for my pitchers, so I wasn't really thinking about (the railing or the netting),” Duran said postgame on Wednesday. “I was just trying to make a play for Earls. He’s going really good, and I was just trying to give him one easy out.”

Early, meanwhile, was impressed with Duran’s effort as he thought that ball would fall in foul territory.

“I don't know how he caught the one down the line,” Early said. “He's a freak athlete, and when he goes out there and shows you what he can do, it’s pretty special.”

Along with his defensive play, Duran hit a two-run homer in the top of the seventh to give the Red Sox a lead en route to a 4-3 win to sweep Kansas City.
