The Pittsburgh Steelers' countdown to kickoff continues to roll on ahead of the 2026 NFL regular season, with fans needing to wait only 92 more days until the Steel City brand of football hosts the Atlanta Falcons on September 13.
In the spirit of the countdown, we at Steelers Wire will take a look at the history of the No. 92 jersey and analyze which players wore it best.
Signing with the Steelers as an undrafted free agent following the 2026 NFL Draft, Jobity is the current No. 92 wearer on the roster. Playing four seasons at Syracuse University, Jobity recorded 10 sacks, 84 combined tackles, and 20.5 tackles for loss during his collegiate career.
While multiple-time Pro Bowl linebacker Jason Gildon definitely has a case, the greatest No. 92 wearer in Steelers history goes to James Harrison.
One of the most ferocious defenders the league has ever seen, Harrison signed with the Steelers as an undrafted free agent in 2002 but would be released three times by Pittsburgh and once by the Baltimore Ravens before he'd reach the level we all know and love.
From 2004 to 2016, Harrison would appear in 176 games for Pittsburgh, including 107 starts, recording 80.5 sacks, 775 combined tackles, and 122 tackles for loss during his time with the Steelers.
A two-time Super Bowl champion, the 2008 NFL Defensive Player of the Year, a two-time First-Team All-Pro and two-time Second-Team All-Pro selection, and a five-time Pro Bowler, Harrison would be inducted into the Steelers Hall of Honor — leaving little doubt that he's the greatest to ever wear No. 92 in franchise history.
