A mug shot of NBA star James Harden has surfaced following his arrest early Saturday morning in Houston. According to reports, the Cleveland Cavaliers guard was taken into custody after a traffic stop led officers to discover a handgun inside his vehicle. Authorities reportedly observed the firearm resting on a seat and not secured in a holster, which resulted in Harden being charged with misdemeanor unlawful carrying of a weapon. The booking photo, obtained by TMZ, shows Harden staring directly into the camera with a serious expression following his arrest.

Police records indicate that Harden was arrested at approximately 3:41 a.m. after officers pulled him over for a traffic-related violation. Following the discovery of the weapon, the former MVP was booked on the misdemeanor charge before later being released after posting a $100 bond.
At this time, additional details regarding the traffic stop and the circumstances surrounding the incident have not been publicly released. The Cleveland Cavaliers acknowledged the situation shortly after news broke, stating that the organization is aware of Harden’s arrest and is gathering more information before making any further comments.

The arrest comes just months after Harden played a key role for the Cavaliers following his midseason trade from the Los Angeles Clippers. Despite changing teams during the year, the veteran guard remained productive, averaging 20.5 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 7.7 assists per game.
Harden helped Cleveland make a deep playoff run, although the season ultimately ended in disappointment. The Cavaliers were eliminated by the New York Knicks in the Eastern Conference Finals. Of course, the Knicks then went on to win the NBA Finals in 5 games.
While the basketball world waits for more details regarding the situation, Harden’s legal process is already moving forward. The 36-year-old is scheduled to appear in court later this month to address the misdemeanor charge.
Until then, both the Cavaliers and NBA fans will be monitoring the situation closely as more information becomes available.
