Training camp for the Jacksonville Jaguars kicks off in about a month, so as part of our preview of what's to come, we will be evaluating each positional battle that is expected to unfold.

What took place during offseason programs laid the foundation for each of these competitions and provided us with some insights into where things may stand. That said, what takes place during training camp and the preseason will ultimately determine who wins these roles.

Up next is the cornerback position.

What Jaguars training camp competition is taking place at cornerback?

The top of the cornerback depth chart for the Jaguars seems to be pretty well set. Travis Hunter and Montaric Brown will start outside, with Jourdan Lewis at the nickel, and Jarrian Jones the first off the bench.

But how the rest of the depth chart shakes out still remains to be seen. Teams typically roster five or six cornerbacks, leaving one to two spots up for grabs.

What we learned during the offseason programs

One of the standout performers during offseason programs was second-year UDFA Jabbar Muhammad. Following the first minicamp practice, head coach Liam Coen praised Muhammad's play. Then, the following day, Anthony Campanile did the same.

"I think he's improved a ton," Campanile said. "But just watching him, he's really been super detailed with his technique. I think that's one of the things that shows up. Very, very deliberate like in the way that he's practicing and I think that's created some takeaways for him and making some plays on the ball. He just always seems to be near the action right now. So he's really done a great job and improved a bunch this spring."

Christian Braswell will certainly be in the mix for a roster spot as well. He played 160 defensive snaps over the second half of last season.

While Braswell and Muhammad may be the favorites for the potential final two roster spots, one other name to watch is UDFA Preston Hodge, who made some plays during OTAs.

Prediction: Who earns final roster spots at cornerback?

My early prediction is that the Jaguars will roster six cornerbacks, with Hunter continuing to play both ways. That provides them with additional depth. Given Braswell's experience from last season and Muhammad's performance this spring, if I were building out an early roster 53-man prediction, I would have both players on it.
