Between now and training camp, we will be going through the Jacksonville Jaguars' full 90-man roster, previewing each player.
Up next is safety Trevian Thomas, who wears No. 34.
Thomas was initially signed as an undrafted free agent (UDFA) by the Carolina Panthers following the 2025 NFL draft and spent the majority of the season on the practice squad. He was released in November and signed with the Jaguars that same month.
Thomas first appeared in three preseason games for the Panthers, where he had five total tackles on defense. Later on, he played in one regular-season game, recording one tackle while playing 10 special-teams snaps. He spent most of the season on the practice squad.
In a crowded safety room, Thomas has a tough road to making the final roster, as Eric Murray, Antonio Johnson, Caleb Ransaw, Jalen Huskey, and Rayuan Lane are all considered to be roster locks. He would need an exceptionally strong performance in training camp to change that, but again, his ceiling is most likely the practice squad.
However, it is worth noting that earning a place on the practice squad would still be a meaningful opportunity. It will allow Thomas to continue to develop within the organization, potentially earn game-day elevations and, when injuries inevitably occur over the course of a 17-game season, have the chance to contribute and climb even higher the next year.
Versatility on defense and special teams play are two ways for Thomas to stand out.
