ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) – It was another successful basketball camp for Patrick Henry alum and former Murray State guard, Jada Cook. After completing her sophomore season with the Racers, it was back to Roanoke for her annual “Complete Player Camp.”
From pre-k through rising 8th graders, both boys and girls were welcomed at the Summit to help improve and sharpen their game. Participants worked on fundamentals like ball handling, shooting, and dribbling.
The camp also offered various competitions, including one-versus-one, free throws, and an all-star game. Camp organizer and Patrick Henry alum Jada Cook says basketball opened doors for her while she was growing up. Now she wants to help inspire the next generation of players right here in Roanoke.
“Just having fun. That’s really my biggest thing, I preach to them and compete as well. The motivation behind it, I mean, it’s always good to give back, you know. It was given to me. I always want to do the same thing in return for the next generation.”
After entering the transfer portal, Cook now plans on taking her talents to Stony Brook University in Long Island, New York.
