The Arizona Cardinals will open training camp on Wednesday, July 22. They have a number of notable storylines to follow as it begins.
One is Jacoby Brissett's contract.
The Cardinals and Brissett have had a contract dispute all offseason.
After Kyler Murray was released, Brissett, who started 12 games last season, became the presumed starter. Due only about $4.9 million in salary with $1.5 million guaranteed, he wants to be paid in line with other starting quarterbacks.
He sat out of the voluntary part of offseason workouts and did not participate in the team's only mandatory practice in minicamp.
The biggest question facing the Cardinals is whether something will get done and whether he reports to camp if nothing does get done. And if he shows up, will he practice or will he have some phantom back injury?
And if that happens, how long will it be before he is no longer the starter?
