The Jacksonville Jaguars have activated linebacker Dennis Gardeck from the team's Active/Physically Unable to Perform list and he is set to practice for the first time in training camp.
Gardeck was placed on the PUP list when camp began for undisclosed reasons. As a member of the Arizona Cardinals last year, Gardeck sustained an ACL injury midway through the season.
The Jaguars brought in Gardeck as a veteran pass rusher who will primarily play in the SAM (strongside linebacker) role alongside players like Yasir Abdullah and Jalen McLeod.
Foye Oluokun: Jacksonville Jaguars 2024 was abysmal; Here's why he's optimistic about 2025
Gardeck, a seven-year vet, was originally signed as an undrafted free agent after the 2018 NFL Draft. He's spent his entire career in Arizona as a situational pass rusher and backup.
Gardeck has started 17 games in his career, playing in 96. Gardeck has accounted for 156 tackles (117 solos), 23 tackles for loss, 35 quarterback hits and 17 sacks. In 2022, Gardeck posted six sacks. His best season came in 2020 when he accounted for seven sacks.
