Head coach T.J. Otzelberger and the Iowa State men’s basketball program secured a major victory on the recruiting trail this week as Jack Kohnen, a four-star small forward in the 2027 class, committed to the Cyclones on Saturday.

Kohnen, a 6-foot-6 standout from Slinger High School in Wisconsin, is currently ranked as the No. 31 overall prospect in the nation by Rivals. His pledge marks a significant win for Iowa State, as he chose the Cyclones over a competitive list of finalists that included Iowa and Nebraska. The highly-coveted wing also held scholarship offers from several other high-major programs, including Wisconsin, Notre Dame, Indiana and Wake Forest.

During his junior campaign at Slinger, Kohnen was a statistical force, averaging 20.6 points, 11.1 rebounds and 4.7 assists per game. His performance was instrumental in leading the Slinger program to its first state tournament appearance since 1977.
