Coming into the NFL, many expected Ja’Kobi Lane to be a prototype red-zone target. Early practices in Baltimore suggest his role may be far more diverse than that. While on The Lounge Podcast from the Ravens, Lane addressed how the offense is already using him in multiple ways. He said, “Being able to be a bigger receiver, but be able to have some wiggle to me and be able to move on these shallow crosses.”

That versatility opens up opportunities not just for him, but for the entire offense.

“It gives me more opportunities to open stuff up for guys like Zay, guys like Bateman, and so on.”

Lane also hinted that motion, deception, and layered concepts will be part of his use.

“Maybe we hit a double pass or something. I think there’s just a lot that Coach Doyle is going to dial up this year.”

That expansion of responsibilities is a strong early sign of the Ravens' view of his long-term development.
