The highlight-reel catches are what fans see, but for Ja’Kobi Lane, those moments are built long before game day. The behind-the-scenes work is what he believes separates good receivers from great ones. Lane explained how repetition and training shape his ability on his appearance during The Lounge podcast. He said, “In practices and times where I’m on the Jugs machine for countless hours or juggling three balls or catching tennis balls, those are the times where I’m putting in the work.” That preparation translates directly to game situations.

“I’ve been catching the ball one-handed throughout my life since I was knee high.”

Lane also emphasized that those catches aren’t intentional improvisation—they’re the result of trust in his ability.

“I’m never trying to make a one-handed catch. I trust myself enough to go up with one hand and box somebody out.”

It’s that blend of preparation and instinct that creates the plays fans remember.
